Custom Foot Orthotics
Performance Chiropractic Center utilizes custom orthotics made in part by Fastech Labs, an orthotic laboratory based out of Troy, Michigan. Fastech Labs was founded in 1989 by Glenn Cumberland, a pedorthist with over 30 years of experience in the supportive footwear industry.
What sets Fastech Labs orthotics apart from other supportive devices on the market today is the way that they are created. From the very first step, the creation of Fastech orthotics involves active patient participation. Using a convection oven, a thermoplastic insert is warmed to create a moldable surface. The patient then steps onto the moldable insert and where they are positioned into a biomechanically aligned neutral position. The patient remains in this position for a short period of time, enough for the insert to begin to cool and harden. The insert is then sent to Fastech Labs where any needed lifting and/or posting are added. Any minor corrections that need to be made to the insert will be performed at the laboratory as well.
This process is different from most custom orthotics that requires a plaster negative that the orthotic is created from. Fastech Labs use the orthotic that the patient will be wearing immediately during the creation process. And because Fastech Labs is such a short distance from Chicago, the turnaround time to receive your completed custom orthotic is less than one week.
